University Book Store Launch: "My Impression of China--;Washingtonians' First Trips to the Middle Kingdom" (Posted: 12/18/2014)
On December 14, 2014, at 3:00, the long-awaited official launch of my new book finally took place at the University Book Store in Bellevue. It was not a huge party, but it was good, solid and meaningful. A number of people whose stories are in the book were there, along with friends and others.
I spoke about how my interest in U.S.-China relations goes back to China; how I wanted to tell Washington state's great China story; how I began this project in early 2013, as I blogged about here; how I got the 35 stories in the collection, and presented three outstanding sample stories.
One interesting part of the event was that instead of a Q&A, I invited each contributor to the book and others in attendance to say something about their first trip to China. It was a spontaneous decision and it worked, making the event more fun than a monologue! Seen here speaking is Joe Borich, advisor to this book project.
Thanks to the friendliness and generosity of the attendees, I actually signed some copies of my book!
Well, there are still a lot more copies left, there or on Amazon.
Hm... Won't you get yours?
